Speciesism is the term given to our perception and treatment of living beings based on their species. These are arbitrary biases handed down to us and we in turn hand them down to the next generation. That some animals are to be adored and some animals are to be killed and eaten. The truth is that all animals are wonderful regardless of who and what they are.

Most of us would not want to eat a parrot because they are colorful and can mimic human speech. But turkeys are curious, sweet, affectionate, intelligent and playful birds who can communicate to each other with unique voices.

But we have been taught that turkeys are to be killed and eaten while parrots are to be celebrated.

Let’s end the discrimination of animals by making the switch to plant based foods.
