What makes one sweet and affectionate living being a pet and one sweet and affectionate living being a meal?
A cat is no different than the friendly, lovable animals who we place on our plates with the exception that we have been taught to love one and kill and eat the others.
We would never think to eat a cat but freely eat a pig, a cow, and a chicken even though the latter three all have wonderful characteristics despite the stereotypes that we have been taught to believe about them.
A pig spends years in a cage barely big enough for her body, a cow is continually impregnated and pumped for her milk, and a chicken is debeaked and stuffed in a cage with no space to move. And while we would never do these things to a cat, through a disconnect society has deemed it perfectly fine to do these to others because it has arbitrarily decided that some animals are not food and some animals are.
A kinder, more equal world can exist. Make a positive difference and give plant based a (delicious) try.
