"Even though I am smart and social, I spend my days in extreme confinement in a place called a factory farm, a large establishment where thousands of animals are packed tightly together and where abusive practices abound in the name of profit. My 'room' here is a small pen where I can't even turn around.

Shortly after I was born, I had my tail cut off. The factory farm humans said that they did it because we pigs bite each others' tails. But the only reason that we do that is because confinement here it is extremely stressful and boring so that we develop these types of  behaviors. But rather than give me some freedom, I am stuck in a cage."

"I live in a factory farm in something called a battery cage. These are intensely confined cages in which I am crammed inside with 5 other chickens. My life is spent here where I am just expected to lay eggs and I cannot display any of my natural behaviors. It is so crowded that I cannot even lift my wings. Because I am so restricted in my movements, the tip of my beak is cut off so that I don't peck at the other chickens in the cage."

"Right after my calves were born, the factory farm people took them away from me, which caused me a huge amount of grief and to cry out for them. But those are not the first kids who I lost. I am constantly becoming impregnated so that I will produce more and more milk. Although I am constantly hooked up to a milking machine, I hope that I can keep producing because when I stop....Until then, I hope that my kids are okay."

"If you can imagine living in no more than 4 square feet, welcome to my world in the factory farm where I am packed with hundreds of other turkeys. I am given drugs to grow faster and larger than my small frame will support. To stop me from injuring other turkeys (because I am going insane here), the tip of my beak is cut off with shears as well as portions of my toes, both without pain killers."

"The circus might seem like fun to you, but these places are no fun for me. For example, while watching a circus, you might be amazed at the tricks that I do. But what you don't see is that I am being forced against my will to do them because if I do not, I will be prod, poked, and hit by hooks and steal rods by the trainers. And as unpleasant as these tricks are to perform, I live in fear of something worse."

"I live in a lab where cruel experiments are conducted on me. One day I might be exposed to toxic chemicals. Another day I might be shocked. On others I might be infected or forced to participate in other painful procedures."

"I was born in a puppy mill, establishments that breed a large number of us puppies for sale. Since profit is the name of the game here, adequate care is limited. I live in a dirty cage without access to socialization or veterinarians. There is nothing to do here except pace back and forth and I am sick but no one seems to care."
